Nomination
This
information is provided to help you nominate your candidate for
enshrinement into the South Carolina Aviation Association Hall of Frame.
Established
in 1991, the South Carolina Aviation Association Hall of Fame honors pioneers
and leaders in the aviation industry who have made significant
contributions to the development, advancement or promotion of
aviation and have close ties to the State of South Carolina.
Hall of Fame Criteria

It is not necessary to have a
Hall of Fame or Aviator of the Year inductee every year.

Up to three nominees Hall of Fame honorees can be inducted each year and one
Aviator of the Year.

Nominees shall be reviewed by the appropriate FAA or DOA officials to ensure
there are no concerns or reasons why the person should not be nominated.

Nominations shall stand for two years.

The person nominated must have either been born in South Carolina or made
their fame in this state or elsewhere, or they can be a native of another
state, but furthered the reputation or enhanced the quality of
aviation affairs in South Carolina through their career.

The nominee shall have verifiable documentation of accomplishments in
aviation included with the application to include the following:
A Biographical resume. Be as detailed as
possible. Include documentation where available with
dates of military service, units served with,
dates of airline employ, dates of businesses owned, etc. If possible,
include copies of clippings, logbook entries, citations and awards granted to
the individual.
A close up head shot of the nominee from early
and late in the nominee’s career. This is very essential should the candidate
become elected. Many things such as award plaques, slide presentations, and
brochures are generated around the candidates. If possible, provide additional
photos of the person at their work, with their
airplane, or involved in their aviation
activity. Photos must be original glossy photos, not photo copies, newspaper
clippings or digital pictures.
Aviator of Year Criteria
In
addition to the above:

The Aviator of the Year must be a living person.

The nominee should be a true aviator (pilot or flight crew member).

The nominee’s
accomplishment in aviation should be verifiable and attached to the
application. The nominee should have
achievements above and beyond a normal pilot.
All Nominees shall:

Have demonstrated ethical conduct and responsibility toward associates in
the industry and community.

Have had substantial influence in promoting and preserving the state’s
aviation industry.

Have contributed to the positive image of South Carolina as viewed from the
state and national level.
-
Maintained a high level of respect within the state’s aviation community for
service, performance and public service.

The entire
nomination package will be screened by the Hall of Fame Committee
before it is referred to the entire South Carolina Aviation Board of
Directors.
Once a
year, the Board of Directors votes by secret ballot on eligible
nominees for enshrinement. Because the SCAA HoF Committee begins
preparing for enshrinement over a year in advance, it could take up
to 18 months from receipt of your nomination package to its first
consideration by the full Board of Directors.
Hall of
Fame Committee considers candidates annually. The candidate
nomination package must be received by the SCAA HoF office on or
before July 1st (November 1st for 2006) each year. Any nomination package received after
the dead line will be considered the following year.

Hints
Enshrinement into the South Carolina Aviation Hall of Fame is an
extremely prestigious accomplishment. Many distinguished air and
space pioneers are currently on our nomination ballot. In order to
make your nominee more competitive, please make your nomination
package as thorough, comprehensive and documented as possible. This
may include detailed narratives and pictures (non-returnable) of the
nominee, for example. Once a nomination package has been submitted,
it may always be updated with additional information as it becomes
available.
